Ignite Joy is a thoughtfully curated healing experience that blends the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine with practices that awaken vitality, presence, and connection. Together, we will explore gentle yoga, Qigong, breathwork, and guided meditation to help settle the mind, release tension, and create the optimal conditions for acupuncture to work more deeply and effectively.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the energy of summer is associated with the Fire element, the heart, connection, and joy. This workshop is designed to help you align with the season by cultivating presence, vitality, and emotional balance. Each practice builds upon the next, preparing your body and nervous system to receive a restorative acupuncture treatment that supports the free flow of energy and promotes a sense of ease and renewal.
Whether you're new to acupuncture or already incorporate it into your wellness routine, Ignite Joy offers a unique opportunity to experience how movement, mindfulness, and acupuncture work together to enhance healing, deepen relaxation, and awaken a greater sense of well-being.
Location: The City Studio | 8 Newstead Ave., St Louis, MO 63108
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle into the space.

Generally, acupuncture does not hurt. Sometimes people feel nothing during insertion, others may feel a brief pinch or sting. The needles used in acupuncture are solid and much thinner (often as thick as a few hairs) than needles used for injections or blood draws (hollow shaft with bigger gauge). Once the needles are placed, people often report feeling deeply relaxed, heavy in their body, and meditative.

During this event, the NADA protocol will be used for participants that are wanting to receive acupuncture. NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) is a standardized auricular acupuncture treatment that is often used in group settings because there is not an extensive intake process. The treatment involves the placement of 5 small, sterile needles into the following points on the ear:
-Shen Men (“Spirit Gate”): reduces anxiety and nervousness, eases pain, relaxes muscles, and clears the mind
-Sympathetic: calms the central nervous system, reduces tension, helps the body transition from “fight or flight” to “rest and digest”
-Kidney: helps to ease internal fears, strong grounding point, tonifies vital life force energy (jing)
-Liver: aids in emotional and physical detoxification, quells frustration, promotes emotional flexibility
-Lung: opens the chest to allow for deep meditative breathing, helping the mind let go of grief and emotional burdens

Acupuncture is a form of East Asian medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years to support the body’s natural ability to heal and regulate itself. Using very fine, sterile needles placed at specific points on the body, acupuncture works to improve circulation, calm the nervous system, reduce inflammation, and restore balance throughout the body. Modern research shows that acupuncture can influence muscles, connective tissue, the nervous system, hormones, and immune response —helping the body move out of stress patterns and into a more restorative state.

Acupuncture and gentle movement practices can often be adapted during pregnancy. However, because every pregnancy is unique, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before attending. If you are pregnant, please let us know when you register so our practitioners can determine whether any modifications to the acupuncture or movement practices are appropriate for you.
