Trauma Healing Intensives

Focused, personalized trauma therapy designed to help you achieve meaningful progress in less time than traditional weekly therapy.

Focused Time. Deep Healing. Lasting Change.

Sometimes an hour per week simply isn't enough.

You may have spent months or years understanding your patterns, reading books, attending therapy, and doing everything you can to move forward. Yet the same wounds, triggers, relationship struggles, or feelings of disconnection continue to surface.

A Trauma Healing Intensive offers the opportunity to step out of your daily routine and devote concentrated time to your healing process.

Through a customized, immersive experience, we create space to gently uncover the roots of your struggles, process unresolved experiences, and reconnect with the wisdom of your mind and body.

If you're ready for meaningful progress in a shorter period of time, an intensive may be the next step.

What Is a Trauma Healing Intensive?

A Trauma Healing Intensive is an extended therapy experience designed to help you accomplish months of therapeutic work in a matter of hours or days.

Unlike traditional weekly therapy, intensives provide uninterrupted time to explore, process, and integrate experiences without having to stop just as you're beginning to access deeper layers of healing.

Your intensive is entirely personalized and may incorporate:

  • Trauma-focused psychotherapy

  • Mindfulness-based approaches

  • Somatic awareness practices

  • Guided meditation

  • Hypnotherapy

  • Self-compassion work

  • Attachment-focused interventions

  • Nervous system regulation skills

Each intensive is thoughtfully designed around your goals, history, strengths, and needs.

Why Choose an Intensive?

Many clients seek an intensive because they:

  • Want faster progress than weekly sessions allow

  • Feel like they're just beginning to access something important when the therapy hour comes to an end

  • Struggle to maintain therapeutic momentum between sessions due to busy schedules and competing demands

  • Have a specific issue they want to focus on in depth

  • Are navigating a major life transition or decision

  • Have limited availability for ongoing therapy

  • Feel called to engage in deeper therapeutic work without the interruption of week-long pauses between sessions

An intensive creates the space to move into deeper levels of transformation, and more quickly.

Is this right for you?

Trauma Healing Intensives may be a good fit if you:

  • Struggle with the lasting effects of trauma or adverse life experiences

  • Experience anxiety, hypervigilance, or emotional overwhelm

  • Feel disconnected from yourself or others

  • Find yourself repeating the same relationship patterns

  • Carry shame, self-criticism, or a persistent sense of not being "enough"

  • Live in a body that stays on alert and never truly relaxes

  • Feel ready for a more accelerated healing process with lasting results

A Trauma Healing Intensive may be right for you if you are ready for a focused, immersive experience that meets the depth of your story and supports you in rewriting what comes next. This work is best suited for those who are ready for accelerated change and meaningful shifts in a condensed timeframe.

What happens during an intensive?

Every intensive begins with a comprehensive planning process.

Step 1: Consultation

We'll begin with a complimentary consultation call to discuss your goals, answer questions, and determine whether an intensive is the right fit.

Step 2: Personalized Preparation

Prior to the intensive, you'll complete questionnaires and participate in a planning session so we can identify the themes, challenges, and goals that will guide our work together.

Step 3: Your Intensive Experience

During your intensive, we'll engage in focused therapeutic work tailored specifically to your needs.

Sessions include intentional breaks, opportunities for reflection, and practices designed to support nervous system regulation and integration.

Step 4: Integration & Follow-Up

Healing doesn't end when the intensive concludes.

You'll leave with personalized recommendations, practices, and resources to support ongoing growth. Follow-up sessions may also be available.

My Approach + Experience

I’m Dr. Brittany Jacobson, a licensed psychologist specializing in trauma healing and mind-body approaches to well-being.

For over a decade, I’ve worked with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, sexual concerns, and patterns of emotional disconnection. I view healing as something that is experienced, not just logically understood.

You’ve spent years (likely decades) living in an overactive mind, a chronically tense body, and a constantly alert nervous system. Insight matters, but lasting change often requires engaging the whole self: mind, body, and nervous system.

All of the approaches I use are evidence-based, meaning they’ve been researched thoroughly and found to be effective for trauma healing. I blend evidence-based psychotherapy with experiential, somatic, and mindfulness-based practices. This allows us to work with both the cognitive and the deeper emotional/physical patterns that can keep people feeling stuck.

In addition to my doctoral training, I’ve pursued advanced training in approaches that support embodied healing and integration, including:

  • Meditation teacher training

  • Clinical hypnotherapy

  • Certified sex therapy specialization

  • Yoga and breathwork practices

I integrate these modalities into a cohesive, personalized experience based on your goals and comfort level.

I have experience designing and facilitating immersive healing formats beyond weekly therapy, including trauma-focused groups, mindfulness retreats, and intensive therapeutic work. These settings have shaped how I support deeper, sustained change when there is enough time and space for the process to unfold.

In our work together, I bring a grounded, collaborative presence and a flexible approach. I can easily adapt our plan to whatever is arising in the session that most addresses the root of healing. Sessions may include structured psychotherapy, mindfulness, or guided experiential work, depending on what supports you best in the moment. If you are in the St. Louis area, you can also get a sense of my style and if it is the right fit for you by attending one of my upcoming workshops. These can be found on the events page of my website.

I am passionate about helping my clients find healing by creating space that feels both safe and empowered. If an intensive feels aligned to you, I’d be honored to walk with you on this part of your path toward true peace and freedom in your life.

What You May Be Wondering:

  • Weekly therapy can be incredibly effective, and for many people it is exactly the right fit. However, meaningful insights and emotions often begin to emerge just as the session is ending.

A healing intensive creates the opportunity to stay with the work rather than pressing pause and waiting until next week. The extended format allows for deeper exploration, processing, and integration, helping you build momentum that can be difficult to achieve in shorter sessions.

Many clients choose an intensive because they want dedicated time to focus on healing without the distractions and demands of everyday life.

  • No. While psychotherapy is an important part of the experience, a healing intensive is intentionally designed to be more than extended talk therapy.

Your intensive is personalized to your needs and may integrate evidence-based psychotherapy approaches with mind-body practices such as meditation, hypnosis, mindful movement, breathwork, and nervous system regulation techniques.

You will gain insight, while also getting to experience and integrate meaningful change on multiple levels.

  • Before your intensive, we'll discuss your goals, preferences, and any previous experiences with therapy.

Together we'll identify the therapeutic approaches that resonate most with you and create a personalized plan. Some clients prefer a more structured cognitive approach, while others are interested in mindfulness, self-compassion, hypnosis, or body-based practices.

There is no one-size-fits-all process. Your intensive will be tailored to you.

  • Absolutely. Many intensive clients have already spent time in therapy and have gained valuable insight into themselves. They often know what their patterns are, but continue to feel stuck or unable to create lasting change.

An intensive can provide the focused time and depth needed to move beyond understanding and into healing, integration, and transformation.

  • One of the benefits of an intensive is that we have the time to move through difficult emotions rather than stopping in the middle of an important process because the hour is up.

Throughout the intensive, we'll intentionally pace the work and incorporate grounding, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation practices as needed. It is important to me that you do not to leave you feeling emotionally raw or overwhelmed. Instead, we'll prioritize both deep exploration and thoughtful integration so that you leave feeling supported, grounded, and equipped for continued healing.

  • Not at all. While intensives can be highly beneficial for trauma recovery, they may also be helpful for people navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, personal growth, or longstanding patterns that no longer serve them.

Clients who choose an intensive simply feel ready to devote focused time and attention to their healing and well-being.

  • Yes. Therapy Intensives are available in person in St. Louis, Missouri, and online as well. As a PSYPACT-authorized psychologist, I am able to provide services to clients across 40+ states.

Both in-person and online formats offer the same depth, structure, and personalized therapeutic approach. Online intensives also allow you to participate from a familiar and comfortable environment, which can support grounding and ease as we engage in meaningful therapeutic work together.

I am authorized to provide online telehealth services in the following states:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

  • Not necessarily.

Some clients choose to continue with ongoing therapy after their intensive, while others feel they have gained the clarity, insight, and momentum they were seeking.

There is no expectation that you continue therapy afterward. At the end of the intensive, we'll discuss recommendations based on your goals and needs.

  • That's completely okay.

No prior experience is required. Any mind-body practices included in your intensive will be adapted to your experience and comfort level. All practices are optional and will be explained beforehand, with guidance along the way if you choose to try them.

You are always in control of the process. We'll work collaboratively to create an experience that feels supportive, safe, and aligned with your goals.

  • Many people spend years putting their own healing on the back burner while caring for others, meeting responsibilities, and managing the demands of daily life.

A healing intensive is an opportunity to step out of that cycle and intentionally invest in yourself.

By dedicating focused time to your healing, you create space to explore patterns, process experiences, reconnect with yourself, and cultivate lasting change. Many clients describe the experience as giving themselves the time, attention, and support they have needed for a long time but rarely allowed themselves to receive.

  • Weekly therapy can be a powerful and effective path to healing. For many people, it's exactly the right fit.

At the same time, meaningful therapeutic work often unfolds in layers. Just as you're beginning to access an important insight, connect with a difficult emotion, or recognize a longstanding pattern, the session may come to an end. Then life resumes—work, family responsibilities, appointments, and the countless demands competing for your attention.

A healing intensive creates the opportunity to stay with the work.

Rather than spreading six hours of therapy across six weeks or more, an intensive allows us to devote focused, uninterrupted time to your healing process. This continuity often creates opportunities for deeper exploration, greater momentum, and more meaningful integration.

And honestly, one of the most common questions I hear is: “How long is therapy going to take?” Often followed by a hopeful, “Is there a way to just… speed this up and get through this faster?” (So understandable! You’re ready to feel better now, not in several months from now.)

While healing isn’t something we can rush or force, it’s completely natural to want relief and clarity sooner rather than later. An intensive allows us to move through it with more focus, intention, and continuity, rather than starting and stopping each week. This allows you to feel relief at an accelerated pace.

Many clients find that they already understand their struggles intellectually. They know where their patterns come from. They've read the books, listened to the podcasts, and spent years reflecting on their experiences.

Yet insight alone doesn't always create change.

An intensive creates space not only to understand your experiences, but to work with them in a deeper and more experiential way. Through a personalized blend of psychotherapy and mind-body approaches, we can explore what is happening cognitively, emotionally, physically, and relationally. This bridges the gap between knowing and healing.

The extended format also allows time for reflection, grounding, and integration throughout the day. Rather than ending a session just as something important emerges, we have the opportunity to slow down, stay present with the process, and support meaningful transformation as it unfolds.

While six weekly sessions and a six-hour intensive may contain a similar number of hours, the experience is often very different.

A healing intensive offers something many people rarely give themselves: the time, space, and support to focus fully on their own healing.
